Privacy, simply explained.
Browser storage
The pronunciation tool saves your transcription-system preference in local storage. Typing alone does not save your text. When you explicitly save a word or sentence, the notebook stores that text, its type and your note in this browser. Quiz completion and best scores are also stored locally, shared across interface languages. There is no account or cloud sync. You can delete notebook entries or export and import a JSON backup. Clear this site’s data in browser settings to remove all preferences, scores and saved entries. Private browsing or clearing site data can lose your notebook; export it first.
Phonetic transcription
Transcriptions are calculated in your browser using dictionary files downloaded from PronounceKit with documented corrections. Missing words are shown as unavailable; no pronunciation is guessed from spelling. The lookup does not send the full word or phrase to a dictionary service. File requests identify a dictionary region and letter group and may be cached by your browser.
Speech playback
Word and sentence playback uses voices provided by your browser or operating system. Voice details identify each voice as Local or Online. Local speech is generated on your device; online voices connect automatically when you request playback and may send the spoken text to the browser’s speech provider. PronounceKit does not run a pronunciation backend or record your microphone. Available voices and their quality depend on your device.
If matching browser voices are unavailable or fail, you can explicitly download and select the basic eSpeak NG voice. It does not download automatically. Isolated-phoneme articulation uses a separate eSpeak worker only when you press its play control. These files come from PronounceKit and may be cached. The eSpeak voices run on your device after loading; later offline visits are not guaranteed. Synthesized speech is not a native recording or a verified teaching reference.
Hosting and analytics
Cloudflare hosts PronounceKit and processes connection information, including IP addresses and requests, to deliver and protect the site. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure visits and page performance, including page paths, referrers, country, browser/device categories and loading timings.

Advertising
PronounceKit currently has no ads or advertising trackers.
Contact
Email is forwarded through Cloudflare to the owner’s Gmail inbox. Your email address and message are processed by these email providers so the owner can read and respond. Only include information needed for your request.
